Located in Clawson, Michigan, Sabbath Coffee Roasters is a relatively new venture. The company has opened a production roastery and a coffee retail cafe. Besides the caffeine laden beverages, the company has a wholesale business in the works, and it plans to expand in the near future. The coffee industry is a crowded one, and the Sabbath execs hope to tap into that crowd with their artisan beverages.
Is coffee good for health?
Having visited the company’s Clawson location, I’ve been impressed by the coffee. The coffee is a mix of local beans roasted by the company’s resident barista, and a selection of beans roasted by other Michigan-based roasters. The coffee is a surprisingly smooth and balanced blend, albeit a bit on the sweet side. The coffee is available in regular, decaf, and cold brew, and the cafe offers fresh cups to go as well. The coffee shop also features a Curtis G4 Gold Cup brewer with UFO sprayheads.
The company also has a coffee-focused social scene, with a small but committed team of coffee lovers. They have also been nominated for a slew of awards, including the 2011 WSSC Gold Medal for their Cannonball Espresso. In fact, the coffee shop has been nominated for several “best coffee shop” awards, and was a finalist in the WSSC’s best of the best competition last year. It is certainly a welcome addition to the coffee scene. Besides the coffee, Sabbath Coffee Roasters also has a few other nifty products, including a line of scented candles and hand crafted soaps.
